Both Apple's US and UK online stores are reporting the iPhone  as "currently unavailable" -- both 8GB&16GB.

The 3G iphone is coming sooner than we think.

If so, this is a brilliant  move for Apple so that customers do not buy the first-gen iPhone in its last days before its successor is unveiled.
